Payment in full is required to reserve your spot in the course. Tuition is non-transferable and is payable by check, credit card, Paypal or cash. Tuition covers textbooks, syllabus, course equipment, and certification cards if any are given. SRTC is not obligated to allow any student to attend a course until SRTC paperwork has been received, reviewed and approved by SRTC. A full refund will be given if we need to cancel the course for any reason.
Cancellation & Refund Policy
If a student cancels out of the course or withdrawals from a course:
- If greater than or equal to 30 days prior to the starting date of the course (Before 1 June 18), SRTC will
retain a $15.00 site cancelation fee.
- Within 30 days of the course start date (On or after 1 June 2018), tuition is non-refundable and
- Participants that cancel or withdraw from a course are still responsible for cancelation fees even if payment has not been sent or processed. (Applies if you cancel within 30 days of a course.
A full refund will be given if we need to cancel the course for any reason.
Late Payment Policy
Participants that register and choose pay via company check or personal check must submit payment in a timely manner. Payment is due no later than 10 days after your registrations is submitted. If payment is not post marked prior to this date a late fee will be assessed. Late fees will either be invoiced separately or added to any outstanding balance.
- Initial late fee is $25.00
- An additional fee of $15.00 per week will also be assessed if payment is delayed past 14 days from registration.
SRTC Student Agreement
(Including Assumption of Risks and Agreement of Release of Indemnity)
A course student agreement will be sent to you upon completion of registration. Please sign it, return it and read it carefully as it affects your legal rights. Bring the one signed document to the first day of the course. If you are a minor, a parent or guardian must sign the document as well. Without a signed document, you cannot participate in the course. SRTC course participants, including minors, will have unsupervised free time throughout the course. Any activities during the free time are not part of the SRTC program and are at the sole risk of the participant.

SARTopo in Search & Rescue Operations
Dates: Session A - 30 June 2018 9:00am - 5:00pm (FULL Now CLOSED)
Session B - 1 July 2018 9:00am - 5:00pm
SARTopo is a widely-used, collaborative online and offline mapping tool for use in Search and Rescue. Topics covered will from range from the ability to print maps for planning a training or at a mission, to assisting in base as a technician (example processing GPS tracks or recording clues), to using SARTopo for SAR planning and operations tasks, either on-scene or for remote support. Hands-on exercise will develop mapping data to support a mock search and rescue mission from inception into the second-operational period.
Space is limited to 15 participants per session!
Those wishing to participate will need to register for session A or B. You do not need to attend both sessions. A light lunch and some refreshments will be included in the course price.
1. Laptop with Windows 8 or higher operating system. A mouse is highly recommended. Google Chrome is the preferred browser.
2. Note pad & pens & pencils.
About the Instructor:
Patty Lindsay is qualified as a Search Manager IV through the Appalachian Search and Rescue Conference and has worked in planning or operations at twelve search incidents, and served as Search Mission Coordinator for six incidents in which SARTopo was utilized. Since 2015, Patty has been configuring and developing
procedures for the deployment of SARTopo for managing search incidents within the Mountaineer Area Rescue Group and the greater Appalachian Search and Rescue Conference and since 2016 has taught seven SARTopo classes to a variety of Search & Rescue, law enforcement, and emergency management personnel. Patty has a professional background in information technology and is currently employed by the CalTopo / SARTopo developer to write knowledge base articles for CalTopo / SARTopo.
