Hotels


There are several hotels near State College, PA within a 10-15 minute drive from the training site. Average cost per night is $100.00. The Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton Inn, and Country Inn & Suites are all located within a 5 minute drive on College Ave in State College PA.

Basic Wilderness Ropes & Rigging Module 1

4-5 June  2022


Cost: $125 

Participants in this course will be introduced to rope, rope hardware, patient packaging, and basic haul systems, which can be used in various aspects of wilderness rescue operations. The intent of this course is to provide rope and basic rigging experience for anyone interested in rope rescue, but particularly those who work in rural areas. Participants in this course will be introduced to characteristics of rope, rope hardware and various knots and hitches. Students will participate in patient packaging and stokes basket handling exercises. Students will be introduced to basic haul and lowering systems and their practical uses. Most of the program is hands on and time is allotted for practice to build proficiency. 


This course will also include light rescue operations orientation.


Student Supply Needs: 
1. Notebook, Pen, Pencil
2. Helmet with chinstrap.
3. Leather working gloves.
4. Long pants.
5. Pack for gear during mobility exercises.
6. Hiking style boots.


This course will take place in the weather conditions provided. Please dress and plan accordingly to work in the weather.

Travel Arrangements


University Park Airport is the local airport. There are multiple rental car dealers at the airport, Enterprise, Hertz, Etc. Most hotels offer airport shuttle service.


Arrival

If flying or driving from outside of the local area please plan to arrive the day before the course..


Departure

Class will dismiss at 1700 on Sunday. We encourage those wishing to fly that flight arrangements be made to depart the day after class.

Course policies


Registration Policy

Payment in full is required to reserve your spot in the course. Tuition is non-transferable and is payable by check, credit card, paypal or cash. Tuition covers textbooks, syllabus, course equipment, and certification cards. SRTC is not obligated to allow any student to attend a course until SRTC paperwork has been received, reviewed and approved by SRTC. A full refund will be given if we need to cancel the course for any reason. Any equipment purchases made at anytime are required to be paid in full and are non-refundable.


Harness & Harness Rental Policy

A Class III full body harness is required for specific rope rescue training courses listed above. Pursuant to the SRTC training policy, all participants are required to have and use a serviceable full body harness. Harness rental is first come first serve. If you wish to reserve a harness please email us at, Sergeant_RescueTng@outlook.com. Please provide what course you are reserving a harness for. Harness rental is $55.00 per training course. Upon arrival you will sign a harness rental agreement prior to receiving a harness. (If Applicable) 


Cancellation & Refund Policy

 If a student cancels out of the course or withdrawals from a course:

-  If greater than or equal to 45 days prior to the starting date of the course, SRTC will 

   retain a $25.00 site cancelation fee.

-  Within 45 days of the course start date, tuition is non-refundable and non-transferable.

-  Participants that cancel or withdraw from a course are still responsible for cancelation fees even if payment has not been sent or processed. (Applies if you cancel within 45 days of a course.)

- All equipment purchases are non-refundable. 

A full refund will be given if we need to cancel the course for any reason.


Late Payment Policy

Participants that register and choose pay via company check or personal check must submit payment in a timely manner. Payment is due no later than 10 days after your registrations is submitted. If payment is not post marked prior to this date a late fee will be assessed. Late fees will either be invoiced separately or added to any outstanding balance.
- Initial late fee is $25.00
- An additional fee of $10.00 per day will also be assessed if payment is delayed past 14 days from registration. This fee is retroactive to the date of registration. 


SRTC Student Agreement

(Including Assumption of Risks and Agreement of Release of Indemnity)

A course student agreement will be sent to you upon completion of registration. Please sign, return it and read it carefully as it affects your legal rights. Bring the two-page signed document to the first day of the course. If you are a minor, a parent or guardian must sign the document as well. Without a signed document, you cannot participate in the course. SRTC course participants, including minors, will have unsupervised free time throughout the course. Any activities during the free time are not part of the SRTC program and are at the sole risk of the participant.
